The Bad Stuff Extra Anejo Tequila Wins Gold Medal At San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2020
Since its introduction in 2000, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) has become one of the most respected and influential spirits competitions in the world. It was founded by The Tasting Alliance as a way to recognize exceptional products in the spirits industry. Emphasizing integrity and impartiality, this prestigious competition takes great pride in ensuring that all entries are treated with equal care and consideration by The Tasting Alliance's panels of carefully selected spirits-industry judges.

The 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition was held at the Hotel Nikko, San Francisco from March 13th through March 15th. This year was the 20th San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and was the biggest in its history, featuring almost 3,000 entries from all corners of the world.

With two decades of experience, the SFWSC is one of the world’s most respected spirits competitions due in large part to their esteemed judges. Each with a distinct story and trusted palate, these seasoned experts are one of the reasons an SFWSC medal indicates the highest caliber of quality. The 50 judges of the 2020 Competition are established spirits-industry experts, including:
  • Anthony Dias Blue (Executive Director), author, editor, publisher, and one of the most influential food, wine, and spirits writers and lifestyle personalities in the U.S.A.
  • Tony Abou-Ganim (Director of Judging), the Master-Mixologist, one of the leading pioneers of America’s craft cocktail movement
  • Bridget Albert, Author, award-winning Mixologist in USBG and Bellagio classic cocktail competitions, and featured Mixologist on the Food Network’s “Iron Chef America: Battle Mango.”
  • Chris Adams, Managing Partner of Ellis Group, an international consulting firm that works in the areas of luxury branding for the hospitality, entertainment, and fashion/art industries.
  • Erik Adkins, Founder and Beverage Director of the bar program at the Slanted Door Group, one of the most recognized and creative talents in the nation’s resurgence of the American cocktail.
